Local Telephone (PBX) Services


The Division of State Information Technology (DSIT) uses several effective methods to provide our agencies with an efficient and cost-effective telephone service based on their location.

Understand the Service

  • DSIT Centrex
    Contracts exist with service providers to offer Centrex services for multiple locations that are managed by DSIT.
         
  • Non-DSIT Centrex
    Contracts exist with several providers for basic single line telephone service with essentially the same features to the desktop that are available with a PBX or key system. This Centrex service is provided by software in a telephone company’s local central office.     
         
  • Non-Centrex Local Service
    Contracts exist for local telephone services that are provided by all local exchange companies (LEC) in South Carolina as well as several competitive local exchange companies (CLEC).

How Am I Billed?
Local Telephone PBX services are billed via the Customer Care billing system using standard State processes.
