Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Services
The Division of State Information Technology (DSIT) owns and operates a large computer center that supports mainframe processing and enterprise computing services for a number of South Carolina State agencies.
To prevent a disaster from rendering the computer center unable to provide mainframe and enterprise computing services, DSIT established a Disaster Recovery Program. This program exists to benefit DSIT customer agencies and to encourage joint participation between DSIT disaster recovery teams and key disaster recovery personnel within the agencies/departments that use DSIT computing services.
Understand the Service
The objective of the DSIT Mainframe Disaster Recovery Plan is to restore and make accessible to its end users critical and vital operating environments and data. The current recovery target is 72 hours from declaration of disaster.
To provide recovery from a disaster, DSIT subscribes to a Recovery Service for mainframe and server processing along with communication connectivity. The recovery site provides computers and necessary peripheral equipment for occupation by a subscriber declaring disaster for the recovery of the subscriber’s systems, applications and data.
Why Use DSIT?
- DSIT employs generally accepted systems management practices in its daily operation and in its contingency planning.
- Disaster recovery exercises are regularly performed to test the recovery plan.
- Customer testing verifies the functionality of the restored system and the connectivity of customer sites to the recovery site.

How Am I Billed?
